Expect God’s Goodness And Abundance

http://bible.com/r/S.4e

Today I am reading day 288 of Joseph Prince’s Devotional:

Day 288

Expect God’s Goodness And Abundance

Psalm 65:11 11You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance.

The economic experts may have painted a gloomy picture for the year, but as far as God is concerned, He has crowned the year with His goodness and abundance! God’s supply and provision are never affected by world events, so good times or bad times, expect every month, every week and every day of this year to be surrounded by His goodness. Expect His abundance to meet your every need!

“But Pastor Prince, I’ve not done much good in the past year, so how can I be confident that God will provide for me this year?”

My friend, God doesn’t bless you because of what you have done. He blesses you because of what Jesus has done. At the cross, Jesus bore all your sins and was punished to the full for every one of them, so that you can have His righteousness as a gift and be blessed with every one of God’s blessings (Ephesians 1:3).

Now, look at the word “abundance” in Psalm 65:11. It is the Hebrew word deshen, which means “fatness”. The idea here is abundant provision, blessings and even fertility. (So if you have been believing God for a child for many years, believe that this is the year you will conceive!) Now, the word deshen has another meaning — “ashes”. Ash is the final form of something that has been burnt. For example, the animal sacrifices to God in the Old Testament were burnt on the altar until they became ashes. (Leviticus 4:12) So ashes here speak of the finished work of Jesus at the cross that has put away your sins.

My friend, because of Jesus’ finished work you can confidently believe and declare that the year is crowned with goodness and that God’s paths drip with His provision, blessings and good success for you every step of the way. If the devil tells you that God won’t bless you because of your sins, just tell him, “Ashes!” and point him to the cross of Jesus!

Beloved, you are blessed not because of your good works, good looks, qualifications or industry experience, but because of Jesus’ finished work. He alone has qualified you to receive God’s goodness and abundance every day for the rest of your life!

Thought For The Day
Christ has qualified you to receive God’s goodness and abundance every day.

God’s Unfailing Love

http://bible.com/r/2B.58

Today I am reading day 318 of Rick Warren’s Daily Devotional:

God’s Unfailing Love

Psalm 23:6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Like goodness, God’s unfailing love follows us in life.

King David says it pursues us! Picture a parent following a little child around picking up after them. When we’re struggling with hurts, habits, and hang-ups, God is coming right alongside us, helping to pick up our messes and telling us that his unfailing love is always there.

This means, rather than entering into the future with a question mark, you can do it with an exclamation point!

God will be with you no matter what happens. He will help you out: “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:6 NLT)

God’s goodness will provide and protect. God’s mercy (unfailing love) will pardon and forgive. God’s goodness will supply. God’s mercy will soothe. God’s goodness will help. God’s mercy and will heal.

Goodness is the fact that God gives us good things in life that we don’t deserve. Mercy means God holds back the condemnation we deserve.

Heaven Waits For You

http://bible.us/r/2B.2Q

Today I am reading day 150 of Rick Warren’s Daily Devotional:

Heaven Waits For You

Psalm 23:6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

When King David says, ” and I will live in the house of the Lord forever,” he’s saying that God has prepared a place for him in Heaven.

That’s one of the most important connections we see in the Bible. It connects yesterday with today and then connects them both with tomorrow.

God says, “I’ve got this great life planned for you and surely goodness and mercy will follow you through it, BUT that’s not the end! I’ve got something else at the end!” God builds it to a crescendo.

So David ends his Psalm by saying, “We’re going to heaven!” Jesus saves the best until last. With God it just keeps getting better and better. The best is yet to come – “Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.” (2 Corinthians 5:1 NIV)

Oh Goody!

http://bible.us/r/6u.F

Today I am reading day 15 of NIV Once-A-Day At the Table Family Devotional:

Oh Goody!

Psalm 34:8 Find out for yourself how good the Lord is. Happy are those who find safety with him.

• What does the word good mean?
• Name five things that are good. What makes them good?

The word good is a bit vague in our language. We use it to describe everything that’s average in our lives. “How was your day today?” “Good.” “How did you sleep last night?” “Good.” “How was your peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich?” “Good.” So when we say, “God is good,” what are we really saying?

The Hebrew word that is translated “good” in this verse meant pleasant, agreeable to the senses, excellent, valuable, kind and morally correct. It was a word packed with meaning, not an empty one!

God is difficult to describe. He is certainly not average. He is perfect. He is all the goodness we can imagine — and even more. Nothing about God is bad, evil or impure — everything about God is good.

And not only is God good, but he wants what’s good for us. And there’s nothing average about that either. God’s idea of good may not mean easy or comfortable, but it will get us to where he wants us to be, which is right where we need to be.

My Prayer to God
Dear God, we praise you for your goodness. Thank you for wanting what’s good in our lives. Give us the vision to recognize the goodness of your plans. Amen.

Praise and Worship: God is good

Chorus:
God is good all the time
He put a song of praise in this heart of mine
God is good all the time
Through the darkest night, His light will shine
God is good, God is good all the time

If you’re walking through the valley
And there are shadows all around
Do not fear, He will guide you
He will keep you safe and sound
‘Cause He’s promised to never leave you
Nor forsake you and His Word is true

Chorus

We were sinners – so unworthy
Still for us He chose to die
Filled us with His Holy Spirit
Now we can stand and testify
That His love is everlasting
And His mercies – they will never end

Chorus

Lord I may not understand
All the plans He left for me
My life is in your hands
And through the eyes of Him I can clearly see

Chorus

My journey with Christ
